INTRODUCTION

Over the years, wars of been fought for most of the time, not because of anything but the need to space in land. Today the situation is not different though there are different forms of wars that are being fought equally arising from space in land. Being the greatest heritage that any person belong to a society is entitled to, there is a strong need to administer of land in a manner that it enhances development in a countries but equally does not leave out the people in the process. This module therefore gives insight into land administration and management in Zambia. The module explains what land, and land law is. It examines the different legal frames that exist in land administration. It looks at how land can be acquired, who is entitled to acquire land and on what tenure land may be acquired. The module equally examines the different interests that are recognized that one might have over land or real property. 

OBECTIVES

The objectives of this module are:

  • To explain what land, and law is
  • To give an historical background to the concept of land law
  • To examine different legislative provisions regarding land administration
  • To explain the different types of tenure in land there are
  • To examine the different interests that exist over land or real property

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this module you should be able to:

  • Explain what land is and distinguish it from land law
  • Give an historical background on concept of land administration
  • Identify and explain the different legislative provisions on land administration
  • Identify and explain the different types of land tenure there are
  • Explain the different interests in land or real property that exist.
