INTRODUCTION 

The module examines the forms of laws available in the administration, acquisition and processing of tax royalties and exporting of minerals in Zambia. The module introduces learners to general the regulations and processes of mining in Zambia. It further highlights the detailed mechanisms for mineral exploration and legal interventions that focus on the production and exporting rights of minerals in Zambia.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the module are:

• To highlight the various interventions on the procedures for acquisition of mineral acquisition rights in Zambia
• To examine the legal framework regulating mining activities in Zambia
• Examine the nature of the various legislative provisions regulating exploration and administration of mining in Zambia.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this module you should be able to:

• Explain the various interventions on the mechanics of mineral acquisition rights and procedural requirements involved.
• Assess the mineral relevant authorities and legislation vis-à-vis legal requirements for mining in Zambia.
• Advise on the legal nature of the various mineral interventions and trace their legal basis to either statute or precedents and also advise on all legal aspects of mineral exploration and administration.
