Lusaka Goldsmiths University is a private university registered by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), a government body that registers and regulates institutions of higher learning in Zambia.

  1. One needs to have 5 “O” levels at credit or better including English and in some programs, including Mathematics or, the equivalence of 5 “O” levels including English and in some programs, including Mathematics for applicants who completed their secondary school education outside Zambia.
  1. Yes LGU allows payments in four equal instalments of K3, 800 first at semester registration and the balance payable before end of semester exams each semester.

LGU does not offer bursaries but grants scholarships of up to 50% on tuition only, to students with 8 points or below at secondary school level. To be eligible for the scholarship the applicant must be 25 years or below, completed school two years prior to being admitted and has ordinarily been resident in Zambia for five years prior to being admitted. 

LGU offers a dual mode of physical and virtual classes. Distance students attend live classes online and have access to recorded lectures in the event that they miss a live virtual class.

No distance students write exams online from their respective places.

LGU is not yet offering postgraduate programs until 2027 when the university shall have clocked five years. It is a policy of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) that universities that have not clocked five years should not offer postgraduate programs.

Although LGU does not yet have its own hostels, it does arrange accommodation within walking distance to the teaching and learning campus for students who indicate that they wish to have accommodation arranged for them. The cost for the accommodation is separate from the tuition/fees. 

LGU accepts applications from both Zambian and none Zambian students from anywhere in the world on both face to face and virtual classes.

You can apply but most unlikely that the application would be successful without attaching the grade 12 results. The Admissions team considers the grade 12 results to determine whether or not an applicant qualifies or not for admission to LGU.

The policy of the university is that for one to lecture at degree level they have to have a Master’s degree, to lecture at Master’s degree, they have to have a PhD. LGU accepts persons with bachelor’s degrees to work as tutors under a lecturer.
